Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about solar, batteries, and home energy upgrades in Los Angeles.

Solar & general questions

How much do solar panels cost in Los Angeles?

Most residential systems in Los Angeles fall roughly between $2.75 and $3.75 per watt installed, depending on equipment, roof type, and system size. A typical 6–8 kW home system often lands in the $17,000–$28,000 range before any incentives. Our free estimate gives you an exact price for your home.

Are there still solar incentives in California?

Incentives change frequently. The federal residential clean energy tax credit (Section 25D) ended for systems placed in service after 2025, but leases and power purchase agreements may still carry commercial incentives, and some batteries qualify for California SGIP rebates. We'll walk you through what currently applies to your home.

What is NEM 3.0 and how does it affect me?

NEM 3.0, officially the Net Billing Tariff, applies to new solar customers of investor-owned utilities like Southern California Edison. It credits exported solar at lower, time-varying rates, which makes batteries and properly sized systems more valuable. LADWP customers are on a separate net metering program.

Do you work with both LADWP and SCE customers?

Yes. We handle interconnection applications and inspections for both Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Southern California Edison customers.

How long do solar panels last?

Quality solar panels are typically warrantied for 25 years and often keep producing well beyond that, with gradual efficiency loss of around 0.25–0.5% per year.

Will solar panels damage my roof?

Not when installed correctly. We use flashed, sealed mounting hardware designed for your roof type, and we inspect the roof before every installation.

What happens during a power outage?

Grid-tied solar without a battery shuts off during an outage for safety. Adding a battery backup system lets you keep power flowing to your home when the grid goes down.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer cash purchase, solar loans with low or no money down, and lease or PPA options. We'll compare them side by side so you can choose what works best.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Los Angeles County and Ventura County, including the San Fernando Valley, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Encino, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Thousand Oaks, and surrounding communities.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Green360 Solutions is a licensed California contractor (License #987760) and fully insured.

Service questions

How long does a solar installation take in Los Angeles?

Installation itself usually takes 1–3 days. Counting design, city permits, inspection, and utility approval (Permission to Operate), most projects take about 4–10 weeks from signed agreement to a live system.

Will solar panels work with my tile roof?

Yes. We install on clay and concrete tile, composition shingle, and flat roofs, using tile-specific hooks and flashing so the roof stays watertight. If your roof is near the end of its life, we'll recommend replacing it first.

How long will a home battery power my house?

It depends on battery capacity and what you run. A typical 13.5 kWh battery can keep essentials like the refrigerator, lights, internet, and outlets running overnight, and with solar recharging it during the day it can last through multi-day outages.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

In most cases, yes. We evaluate your current inverter and electrical panel and recommend an AC-coupled or integrated solution that works with what you already have.

Is a heat pump a good choice for Los Angeles?

Yes. LA's mild winters are ideal for heat pumps, which provide both efficient cooling and heating from a single system and pair well with rooftop solar.

How do I know if my AC needs replacing?

Common signs include a system older than 12–15 years, rising energy bills, frequent repairs, uneven room temperatures, or R‑22 refrigerant. We'll give you an honest repair vs. replace recommendation.

Should I replace my roof before installing solar?

If your roof is older than about 15–20 years or showing wear, it's usually smart to replace it first. Removing and reinstalling panels later costs extra, so we inspect every roof before quoting solar.

What is a cool roof?

A cool roof uses materials that reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat. In Southern California that can keep your attic noticeably cooler and reduce air-conditioning costs.

How do I know if my attic needs more insulation?

If your insulation is below the top of the ceiling joists, looks flattened or patchy, or upstairs rooms run hot, you likely need more. We'll inspect your attic and show you photos.

How long does attic insulation take?

Most homes are completed in a single day, including removal of old insulation when needed.

Do I need a panel upgrade to go solar?

Not always. Many homes can add solar to their existing panel, but older or smaller panels may need an upgrade, especially if you're adding a battery or EV charger. We'll check during your free assessment.

How long does a main panel upgrade take?

The on-site work usually takes one day. Utility scheduling for the disconnect and reconnect can add a few weeks, and we coordinate all of it.

Can you combine a remodel with solar or HVAC upgrades?

Yes. That's one of our biggest advantages. We plan the remodel, electrical, HVAC, and solar together so work is done once, in the right order.

Do you handle permits for remodels?

Yes. We prepare plans, pull permits, and schedule all required inspections.
