Home Battery Backup Systems

Keep your home running through outages and Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and use more of the solar energy you produce.

Battery Backup Systems

Battery Backup Systems built for Southern California homes

Under California's newer net billing rules, the power your panels send to the grid at midday earns far less than the power you buy back in the evening. A home battery closes that gap: it stores your excess solar and powers your home after the sun goes down, when electricity is most expensive.

When the grid goes down, your battery switches on automatically, keeping your refrigerator, lights, Wi‑Fi, medical devices, and even your AC running. We design essential-load and whole-home backup systems and integrate them with new or existing solar.

  • Load analysis to size your battery correctly
  • Main panel upgrades when needed
  • Outdoor and garage-rated installations
  • Utility and city permitting handled

FAQ

Battery Backup Systems questions

How long will a home battery power my house?

It depends on battery capacity and what you run. A typical 13.5 kWh battery can keep essentials like the refrigerator, lights, internet, and outlets running overnight, and with solar recharging it during the day it can last through multi-day outages.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

In most cases, yes. We evaluate your current inverter and electrical panel and recommend an AC-coupled or integrated solution that works with what you already have.

Is a battery worth it under NEM 3.0?

For many SCE customers on the Net Billing Tariff, yes. Exported solar is credited at much lower rates, so storing it for evening use typically raises the value of every kilowatt-hour your panels produce.
